A leading company from USA involved into designing of LED System

Objective:

To simulate and compare LED system by conducting Thermal Analysis by FEA Analysis method for different designs and conclude for the best design.

Client Expectations:

Client expected us to assessthe thermal performance subjected to temperature distribution for two different designs. Thermal Analysis was conducted for different design to compare the performance. For this, FEA Analysis methodology was used for the required Thermal Analysis.

FEA Analysis Project Challenges:

The project required a thorough study for the LED system subjected to Thermal Analysis. The difference in two designs was the standoff distance. Our engineers had to work hard to decide for meshing and thermal parameters critical to FEA Analysis. We had performed a transient FEA Analysis by defining the Wattage as heat source input. This approach enabled us to compare the Thermal Analysis aspects for the LED system.

The project saved the client overall ofapproximately 80000 USD which includes the manpower and Testing resources required. In addition to this, the FEA Analysis method used to conduct the transient Thermal Analysis also imparted a lot of learning to the client to apply the proven methodology to their other products. The Thermal Analysis conducted using FEA Analysis methodology also imparted a lot of learning regarding proper mesh sizing and boundary conditions definition to our FEA Analyst.
